Calvin Miller has posted on Instagram after undergoing surgery following an injury picked up playing for Celtic’s reserves against Hibernian last week – prompting reaction from Arsenal star Kieran Tierney, and even a Rangers player.
The 21-year-old defender is far from being involved in the first team under Neil Lennon despite the sale of Tierney, and now the Celtic academy product has confirmed that he will be out of action for the rest of the campaign.
It is a bitter blow for Miller, who has spent time on loan at Dundee and Ayr, with his contract at Celtic set to expire at the end of the season. It may see the Scotland Under-21 international leave the club next summer on a free transfer.
Miller, who can play as a left-back but also as a left winger, posted a message to Celtic fans on Instagram confirming that he will be missing for the best part of 10 months – though it is unclear what his injury actually is.
Miller has managed just five appearances for Celtic since his debut back in December 2016 under Brendan Rodgers. Now, he looks unlikely to add to that tally this season as he prepares for a season on the sidelines.
Plenty of Celtic players reacted to the news that Miller is sidelined by replying to his Instagram, while Tierney showed his Celtic colours by wishing Miller well. Even Serge Atakayi put the Old Firm rivalry aside to send his best to Miller.
