Kieran Tierney amazed by Arsenal fans during Liverpool win
Arsenal moved themselves back to the top of the Premier League table with a massive win at the Emirates. Obviously Liverpool have endured a miserable time so far this season. But there is absolutely no question regarding the amount of quality they posses.
And in many ways, the 3-2 result was even more impressive than if Arsenal had simply blown the Reds away. The visitors equalised twice. And they had their moments on top in the game.
But something is very different about Arsenal this season. And one moment which absolutely highlighted that was the roar which went around the Emirates shortly after Liverpool’s first equaliser.
In previous years, the Emirates – with good reason – has needed little encouragement to vent their frustration. But there is a level of belief which prompted the fans to create a spine-tingling atmosphere.
Tierney lauds Arsenal fans
Certainly, Tierney suggested that he has barely seen anything like it as he reflected on the win.
“I’d say it’s the best since I’ve been here and I think that’s a credit to all the fans, and the players and the staff. It just feels like it has clicked – everybody has come together,” he told the club’s official website.
“You hear reactions after we concede goals, you very rarely hear that in football. Our fans ended up drowning out the Liverpool fans after they scored, just to try and cheer us on, go again and try and get another goal. I think you need that.”
The fan reaction to conceding the goal is not new. On the rare occasions Arsenal have conceded this season, the supporters have been so quick to get behind the side.
It is another factor which suggests that the Gunners are a different animal this term.
Of course, the fans are aware that the club are still growing and developing. And with that, there are going to be bumps in the road.
But the supporters have a team that they can get completely behind. This is threatening to really be an incredibly special era for Arsenal.
And the fans are certainly playing their part.
