Kieffer Moore has admitted, in comments reported by Leeds Live, that he hopes that Leeds United secure promotion this season and labelled their supporters amazing.

A freak Pablo Hernandez own goal settled a game that Marcelo Bielsa’s men should have put a bed long before Kiko Casilla was beaten by his countryman’s deflection.

It is the second year in a row in which the Latics have come away from Elland Road with three points. Nevertheless, Moore insisted that he wants to see Leeds get across the line this time around.

“We kept them at bay and we’re going need more that of that kind of spirit and desire in the coming weeks and months,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.

“The Championship is a very unpredictable league but, for me personally, I hope Leeds go up.

“They’re a massive club with an amazing set of fans and it would be a shame if they didn’t. Football can be very unpredictable but they have a great manager and a great squad.”

TBR View – Leeds’s response against Forest will be crucial

It will be fascinating to see how Leeds respond to Saturday’s setback. In many ways, playing a promotion rival may be exactly what they need.

They will be aware that they cannot afford to do anything other than focus fully on Nottingham Forest. That may help the side put the Wigan defeat behind them.

And it should also ensure that they show absolutely no complacency.

A trip to the City Ground represents one of the few occasions where Leeds will not be deemed to be overwhelming favourites.

And they will know how difficult it will be to get a result. Bielsa has not overseen a victory over Forest since arriving in 2018.

A win this weekend will see a lot of the pain from last Saturday subside.
