In the summer, Everton boss Marco Silva decided the club no longer needed the services of Kevin Mirallas. The Belgian had fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park the previous season, eventually spending time out on loan at former club Olympiakos.

After returning in the summer he was told by new boss Marco Silva that he was not in the plans for 2018-19, despite some good performances in pre-season.

With that in mind, Everton loaned him out to Fiorentina. So far, it has not been a success. He has started just three games since joining the club and going into this weekend’s clash with Sassuolo Fiorentina have been in freefall.

They have not won a game since September and the 3-0 loss to Juventus last time output massive pressure on the players and manager.

When they were 3-1 down with just minutes left against Sassuolo today, many would have felt their poor form was continuing.

However, Fiorentina scored two late goals. Marco Benassi scored in the 89th minute before the Everton loanee scored his first goal for his new club.

It was a crucial goal, which may have saved his manager Stefano Pioli his job and given Fiorentina a spark to get back to their best.
