Kevin Kyle says Rangers player would be ideal for Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City

Kevin Kyle has told Open Goal that he believes Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara would be the ideal signing for Brendan Rodgers at Leicester to provide cover for current holding midfielder Wilfried Ndidi – but thinks he will cost plenty of money.

Kamara, 25, has been excellent once again for Rangers this season – clocking up 33 appearances in all competitions. Previously renowned as a better player in Europe than he was in Scotland, Kamara has since become crucial to both campaigns.

The former Arsenal man has been regularly linked with a move south, but the chances of the Finland international – or any important Rangers players – of leaving in the middle of the season with Rangers so close to the title, was zero.

But in the summer, there could be some sales. Ex-Rangers man Kyle thinks Kamara is likely to attract interest from down south and suggested that he would be ideal for Leicester, to play in a similar role to that of Ndidi under the guidance of Rodgers.

“Where do you see him going in England? He could go and do a role like Wilfried Ndidi at Leicester, that type of role – he’s got the engine, he’s got the awareness, his ability on the ball. I think they will get a lot of money in for him,” Kyle said.

TBR’s view – Is Kamara as good as Ndidi?

No, not yet. The Leicester Mercury have reported in the recent past that Ndidi is valued at £40million. Ndidi has shown his quality at the top end of the Premier League and he is regarded as one of the division’s best holding midfielders.

But Kamara is very good and if he can show the kind of quality he is showing in Scotland, Europa and on the international scene in the Premier League – then he can match the kind of valuation Ndidi boasts. He can be as good as Ndidi.
