Kevin De Bruyne acknowedges Tottenham's Christian Eriksen, compares to himself
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne believes Christian Eriksen is one of the most important players for Tottenham Hotspur.
In a video for the Manchester City YouTube channel, the Belgian maestro was asked to run through the highest rated Premier League team on FIFA 20.
De Bruyne gave his opinions on the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and N’Golo Kante, as well as teammates Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.
He reserved particularly high praise though for Eriksen, who is rated 88 on the new game.
Speaking about the 27-year-old, De Bruyne said: “I think he’s a little bit comparable with me. He’s one of the guys who’s very creative. I know him from his time at Ajax so he’s been unbelievable for club and country.
“A lot of people don’t really talk about him in Tottenham, but I think he’s one of the most important for them.”
Eriksen’s form has dipped this season and his long-term prospects at the club appear somewhat bleak.
He remains a quality player though, and as arguably the best player in the Premier League, creative force De Bruyne’s comments surely carry a lot of weight.
Realistically Spurs will become a weaker team if Eriksen leaves. In 216 league appearances, he’s scored 50 goals and made 65 assists – that kind of quality is not easily replaced.
