Tuesday night saw Arsenal draw 1-1 with Leicester City but it wasn’t the scoreline that grabbed the headlines. Eddie Nketiah’s second-half dismissal got people talking and Kevin Campbell isn’t happy.
The youngster was sent off after catching James Justin on the knee with his studs and many felt it was an accidental incident.
Last night Barcelona winger Ansu Fati saw red in their game against Espanyol; an incident not too dissimilar to that which saw Nketiah given his marching orders.
Campbell played for Arsenal between 1988 and 1995 before joining Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal.
He took to Twitter last night whilst watching the Barcelona game to speak of his dismay at some of the global officiating.
Missing three games will really hurt Nketiah but it’s hardly surprising he saw red on Tuesday.
Although the 21-year-old didn’t mean to catch Justin, it would have set a dangerous precedent had he not seen red.
Referee Chris Kavanagh used the pitchside screens to make the final decision in a move that must be applauded.

Campbell clearly feels that football in the modern era has changed and doesn’t necessarily feel it is for the better.
Years ago Nketiah’s tackle might not have warranted a red card but ultimately when you catch someone knee-high these days, you leave the referee with a decision to make.
The Arsenal youngster was firmly in the thoughts of Mikel Arteta and missing three games will be a blow for the academy graduate.
