Kevin Campbell thinks Arsenal should sign Chelsea's Christian Pulisic
Kevin Campbell wants Arsenal to sign Christian Pulisic from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The American joined the Blues from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019 for a fee reported to be around £58 million (BBC). He was viewed as the next big thing back then, but things just haven’t worked out for him at Stamford Bridge.
In 2023, he could leave Chelsea, and Campbell wants him at Arsenal.
Kevin Campbell thinks Arsenal should sign Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic
The Daily Mail reported at the end of last month that Arsenal are involved in a three-way battle to sign Pulisic. Liverpool and Newcastle United are apparently the other two Premier League clubs interested in his services.
The American, still only 24, will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January. As talented as he is, it has just not worked out for him at Chelsea, and it really does feel like a move away would be the best thing for all parties involved.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a new wide player ahead of the January transfer window. Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk is reportedly their top target, while the likes of Cody Gakpo and Marcus Thuram have also been linked with a move to the Emirates.
Pulisic, however, would be a very interesting signing as well, and Campbell believes it is one Arsenal should make if an opportunity arises next month.
He said about Pulisic on The Highbury Squad: “If Arsenal have got a chance of signing him, for me, I would bring him in.”
Pulisic’s current £150,000-a-week contract at Chelsea will expire in 2024 (Spotrac).
If you can’t beat them, join them
Since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, injuries have really troubled Pulisic. He has missed a total of 54 games during his time as a Blue, which is a real shame.
Those injuries and fitness issues have limited Pulisic to just four appearances against Arsenal in all competitions. Unfortunately for the American, he has lost every one of those games (Transfermarkt).
With Arsenal doing so well under Mikel Arteta now, while Chelsea are in a transitional phase of sorts, that stat may not change anytime soon for Pulisic.
So, as the saying goes, he might as well try and join Arsenal as he just hasn’t been able to beat them.
