Kevin Campbell tells Arsenal to sign Declan Rice instead of Jude Bellingham

Kevin Campbell believes Arsenal would be better off signing West Ham United star Declan Rice than Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table at the moment, but they are a bit short in the middle of the park. Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are Mikel Arteta’s first-choice central midfielders, but they don’t have anyone else who’s quite on the same level.

Bellingham would be a great option, but Campbell believes Rice is the man who’d be a much better fit.

England’s two best midfielders at the moment are arguably Rice and Bellingham.

The Dortmund man is on every big club’s wish list these days. He has been brilliant in Germany and for England, and it’s only a matter of time before he’ll end up at a bigger club.

Rice, who is a few years older than Bellingham, is among the best midfielders in the Premier League. Branded as an ‘outstanding’ player by Yaya Toure, he is a phenomenal talent, and Campbell believes he would be the ideal successor to Partey at Arsenal.

The pundit said on The Highbury Squad YouTube channel: “I truly believe this is the truth. If you are going to pay £100m, who would you buy? Would you buy Bellingham or would you buy Rice?

“I’d buy Rice. All day long.

“Bellingham is good and he is younger. But the game Rice has is perfect for what we have or what we are going to need. I am thinking he is a natural successor to Thomas Partey, who does things in a different way, but he can control a game himself, like Bellingham.”

Campbell is right, Rice would be perfect for Arsenal.

The Englishman can not only sit as a number six and do Partey’s job, but he’s also more than capable of carrying the ball forward. He’s a fantastic passer as well, and as we’ve seen before, he can have a pop at goal from distance too.

To make things better, Rice will likely be a bit cheaper than Bellingham in 2023. The West Ham man will enter the final year of his contract next summer, which will put the Hammers in a difficult position if the midfielder decides against extending his deal.

The competition for both Rice and Bellingham will be massive next summer, but if Arsenal have a chance to sign the West Ham man, they should go all out as he’d be unbelievable for them.
