Kevin Campbell has claimed that Bukayo Saka has surprised a lot of people at the Emirates Stadium this season due to the quickness of his development.
Saka, who came through the Gunners academy, is now considered one of the most important figures in the senior XI.
Despite being aged just 19, the left-footer has become a go-to player for manager Mikel Arteta.
He’s a versatile teenager that has the qualities to play as a wing-back if needed, but he prefers playing further up the pitch on the wing where he can be an attacking threat.
The English speedster currently has six goals and seven assists in 31 games across all competitions this season.
Campbell has explained though that the four-time capped England international has exceeded the expectations of everybody at Arsenal.
“Everybody thought Saka was a good player, but they didn’t realise he couch actually carry the team like he has done this season,” he told Stadium Astro.
“Everyone knew he had potential, but he’s surprised so many people at the football club. He’s been a jewel in the crown. He is producing.”
It’s remarkable how much Arsenal rely on Saka already, as this is only his second full season around the first team.
He made a real breakthrough in the 2019/20 campaign to become vital by the end of it, something he’s carried through into this season.
The youngster doesn’t turn 20 until September and he’s got sky-high potential.
The attacker appears to be thriving under the pressure of being a talisman, but it’s important Arsenal boss Arteta managers him correctly.
