Kevin Campbell says he wants Arsenal to sign Gunners-linked 22-year-old defender

Kevin Campbell has claimed that he would love Arsenal to sign La Liga star Emerson Royal, who has been linked with the Gunners already ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are one of six clubs to contact Spanish giants Barcelona to enquire about the 22-year-old defender.

Interestingly, the Brazilian full-back is joint-owned by Barcelona and Real Betis, but he’ll become the sole property of the former this summer.

The highly-rated right-back has built a glowing reputation during his time at Betis in the past two years, which is why he’s now got a host of clubs eyeing his signature.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Arsenal, Tottenham Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Villarreal and AC Milan are the teams that want to sign him.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

Emerson is an all-action right-back with pace, power and athleticism.

Arsenal-supporting pundit Campbell has made it clear he wants the “aggressive” defender at the Emirates Stadium next season.

“It’s a do-able deal. That guy is up and down that right-hand side. Attack, attack, attack. Can defend. He’s big. He’s strong. He’s quick. He’s aggressive. I see him quite a bit, and I’m like ‘I’d love to see him at Arsenal’.” Campbell told Highbury Squad.

TBR’s View:

Emerson, who has two goals and four assists in 37 Betis appearances this season, is a quick full-back that causes a real attacking threat when he flies forward down the flank.

Additionally, he’s a tenacious defender that looks a perfect fit for the Premier League on paper.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side definitely needs improving if they are to get back to challenging the top four, and finding a long-term solution at right-back will go a long way to fixing that.
