Kevin Campbell has raved about ‘aggressive’ Arsenal 23-year-old

Kevin Campbell waxed lyrical about Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes after his weekend performance in the north London derby.

Gabriel, who earns £50,000-a-week (Spotrac), helped his Arsenal team beat rivals Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old defender partnered fellow Brazilian David Luiz in the heart of the Gunners backline, where for the most part they did well to nullify the dangerous Spurs attacking threat.

He’s still trying to find his feet during his first season in English football, but he did a superb job for Mikel Arteta’s side in a huge fixture.

Arsenal-supporting pundit Campbell claimed post-match that the centre-back was brilliant in the game, suggesting that opposition players are scared to try take him on one-on-one.

“With Gabriel, nobody wants to test him on the run because you’re not beating him. He’s quick, he’s big, he’s aggressive. I just think Gabriel was really outstanding [against Spurs],” Campbell told Highbury Squad.

If you were to pick out Gabriel’s best two or three games in an Arsenal shirt, you’d think they have the world-beater.

The 6ft 3in colossus hasn’t been a nailed on-star in the past couple of months, but he’s someone that looks like he could have a massive future at the Emirates Stadium, and he was extremely influential earlier in the season.

Arteta should give him an extended run in the XI, as he’s got all the physical attributes to be a big success, and he’ll learn a lot playing alongside Luiz.
