Kent’s desire to leave Liverpool offers Klopp a lesson regarding other young starlets

Ryan Kent wants to leave Liverpool this summer after a successful loan spell at Rangers this season, according to the Daily Express.

Kent has reportedly grown fed up with being repeatedly loaned out by Jurgen Klopp and now wants to create some stability in his career.

He said: “I want to kickstart my career somewhere now. I am tired of changing clubs each year and want to settle down.

“Liverpool have been good to me, but going back there each year and doing well in pre-season and then going back out on loan is a repetitive cycle.”

It’s understandable that Kent has grown frustrated with the charade of going back to Anfield every summer after a loan spell, playing a part while all the senior players file back, before being sent away on a temporary basis.

Few Liverpool supporters would argue he’s good enough to get into the first team now – although there is perhaps an argument for using him for squad depth.

But with players such as Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn coming through out wide now, Klopp must treat them better to avoid them getting eventually frustrated and leaving Anfield.

If Liverpool won’t spend huge sums like Manchester City on backup wingers and forwards, then their academy will be a crucial source of attacking depth. Klopp can’t let Wilson and Woodburn go the same way as Kent.
