Kenny Dalglish says 23-year-old in Celtic ranks is a truly 'excellent professional'
Kenny Dalglish has praised Celtic on-loan defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, hailing his attitude and professionalism.
The Hoops snapped up the United States international on loan from Spurs at the 11th hour on transfer deadline day.
Celtic’s hopes of landing Carter-Vickers looked slim, with Tottenham reportedly eager to sell him, as per the Daily Record.
But with nobody else in the frame for the 23-year-old, the parties resumed talks and got a deal over the line with minutes to spare.
Celtic also have an option to buy the player at the end of the season.
Dalglish has seen Carter-Vickers in action in a game between Spurs’ U21s and their Liverpool counterparts.
He was impressed with the centre-back and believes he’ll be a great addition for Ange Postecoglou.
“Celtic rounded off their business by adding Georgios Giakoumakis, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on the final day,” Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post (print edition, page 75, 5/9/2021).
“All three look the part, and will increase the quality in the squad.
“I watched Carter-Vickers in action for Tottenham’s reserves in a game against Liverpool and he looked an excellent professional. His attitude was spot-on.
“The day before, he had been an unused sub for the first team, but still travelled to Merseyside in an exemplary frame of mind.
“All in all, if you look at where Celtic were six weeks ago to where they are now, they are clearly in a better place.”
