Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford might be about to add to their Leeds United workload

Kemar Roofe could soon be in international action, according to reports. The Jamaica Gleaner states that Jamaican Football Federation head Michael Ricketts has informed them of an invitation to the Leeds forward to play international football for the Reggae Boyz.

It comes as the nation leads a new recruitment drive of British-based players with Jamaican heritage. The likes of Cardiff City’s Bobby Reid, Wigan Athletic’s Shay Dunkley, and Preston midfielder Daniel Johnson have also received similar invites.

He is not the only Leeds striker who could soon be playing international football. As reported by the Daily Mail, Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy is confident Patrick Bamford will soon announce his desire to represent Ireland internationally – as he did when an under-18.

Of course, it will be great for the two players to get the experience of playing international football.

But Leeds United might not be so pleased with the matter. Playing international football would be another burden on their current strikeforce that they could do without in Marcelo Bielsa’s traditionally small first-team squad.

Considering both players have also battled injury trouble this term, the extra workload will not appeal to the West Yorkshire club, even if they were to say different.
