Kelvin Wilson has called on Celtic to go and sign goalkeeper Fraser Forster when the summer transfer window reopens.
The former central defender was speaking about current affairs on the Celtic Huddle Podcast and would love to see the ex-Celtic star return.
Wilson was a fan favourite during his time at Parkhead, with the Hoops enjoying some good Champions League nights with him in the team.
He also played in the same team as Forster prior to his move to the Premier League and sees him as a good signing.
The Southampton man played 39 games for the Hoops on loan last season and Wilson believes he’s been badly missed during 2020/21.
He told the Celtic Huddle Podcast: “I think him not being at the club has been the main factor in their struggles.
“With Fraser the calmness he gives you, you’re confident in him and he was the best keeper I played with.
“I think signing him would be a great shout. If that’s an option he should be the first on Celtic’s list.
“From a business side of it, he’s going to play. He’s only 32 and he could play until he’s 40. I’d push the boat out to get Fraser back.”
TBR View: Solid goalkeeper is a must for Celtic in the summer
Wilson is right to suggest that Celtic have missed the influence of Forster between the posts this season.
Vasilis Barkas has flattered to deceive since checking in during the summer and he doesn’t instil his defence with confidence.
Forster might not come cheap given that he earns £70,000-a-week at Southampton.
He would quickly become a star man in the current Celtic setup though and he’d be improving an area that badly needs addressing.
His form last season was the catalyst towards a trophy-laden season and he’s been sorely missed this time around.
The club looks set for a massive summer when the window reopens and Forster would represent a really positive start.
