According to Sky Sports, Inter Milan loanee Keita Balde Diao is open to a move to England this summer. The report claims that the Monaco-owned attacker will not be making his deal at Inter permanent and is open to a Premier League switch.
So should that alert Tottenham Hotspur and Mauricio Pochettino?
Earlier this season, before Tottenham took on Balde’s Inter Milan in the Champions League, the Argentine revealed his interest in the Senegal forward.
He explained, as quoted by Calciomercato, that he has followed Balde since he was in the Barcelona academy and was an option for Spurs before joining Monaco in 2017.
“Yes, it’s true. I’ve been following him since he was growing up in Barcelona while I was at Espanyol.
“He was always an interesting profile for us, but then he chose Monaco. He remains an excellent striker.”
Tottenham fans saw Balde Diao on two occasions this season, both times from the bench in the Champions League. It was a role he played throughout much of the season as he struggled to earn a permanent spot in the Inter Milan starting XI.
The Sky Sports report is now suggesting Monaco could sell him for as little as £22 million, which is a reasonable fee for such a talented individual.
Capable of playing in a number of attacking positions he could certainly be a good asset for Tottenham going into next season.
Perhaps Pochettino should rekindle his long-term interest this summer.
