Some Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Kyle John signed a two-year contract at Goodison Park.

The Toffees confirmed that John had penned a new deal on Monday afternoon with his previous terms expiring this summer. He will now push for his senior debut under a new manager next season after stepping up for Carlo Ancelotti.

John featured regularly in first-team training sessions over the latter half of the 2020/21 Premier League season. Ancelotti also named the 20-year-old on the bench on seven occasions as a reward for his prominent Under 23s role.

John started each of Everton’s last 14 Premier League 2 fixtures after returning from an ankle ligament rupture sustained in September. It came as a cruel blow for the Blues product after he featured twice in pre-season last year.

David Unsworth called on John to feature in midfield sporadically after his return to action last season. He also helped to back-to-back clean sheets against Southampton to close out the campaign and finish the year in fifth.

Everton fans react to John signing new contract

Some Everton fans were delighted to hear that John had committed his immediate future to the club over leaving as a free agent. That’s because they expect the defender to have a bright future ahead of him.

But some also feel Everton must send John out on loan now that he is back under contract. A move to the Championship for a year could help him move closer to a first-team role at Goodison Park next year should he progress well.

However, there are some who believe Everton should have allowed John to leave at the end of his previous contract. The youngster joined the Toffees’ academy at the age of six but remains without his competitive senior debut.

So, here are some of the messages shared…
