‘Keeping RFC moving forward’, ‘some good news’: Some Rangers fans react to club’s Twitter update

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been commenting on Twitter about the Ibrox Under-18 side surging to a 6-2 win in the CAS Under-18s League on Friday.

The mood amongst the Rangers fanbase is not particularly high at present, given the issues at first-team level, but the Bears were given something to smile about thanks to the academy side’s triumph over Aberdeen.

The young Gers opened the scoring in the opening quarter of an hour through Kane Ritchie-Hosler and were four goals to the good by the 34th minute as Umaro Balde netted a brace either side of Ross McCausland’s effort.

Aberdeen got back to within two goals with efforts before and after half time, courtesy of Michael Ruth and Connor Barron, but Rangers struck twice in quick succession in the 76th and 78th minute through Chris McKee and a penalty from Lamcolm Ebiowei.

Steven Gerrard’s charges will be in Scottish Premiership action on Sunday away at Ross County, with plenty of Rangers fans not particularly optimistic given the Ibrox side’s dismal run of form domestically.

However, the Under-18s display lifted the spirits of some Bears, who urged Gerrard to pick some of the youngsters for the first team on Sunday:
