Fabrizio Romano has dropped a hint on a potential mystery new signing Arsenal are trying to make.

The Gunners have done well in the summer transfer window so far.

However, a new senior winger has eluded them so far.

Arsenal have been linked with Raphinha and Raheem Sterling in recent months, but both now seem out of reach.

Raphinha looks set for either Barcelona or Chelsea, while Sterling appears Chelsea-bound.

Arsenal have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry, who came through the ranks at the Emirates.

However, Romano – speaking on Que Golazo – claims Gnabry is not on the Gunners’ radar.

He claims he has an “indication” of who Arsenal may be chasing now, but “can’t speak yet” as he needs to make sure.

“A winger, they wanted Raphinha, but now that is not the case as we mentioned, it’s Chelsea and Barcelona,” Romano said.

“So, for Arsenal we will see if they go for another winger.

“We had rumours about Gnabry, but I’m told he’s not on Arsenal’s list.

“I will try to let you know who the player is.

“I have an indication but I can’t speak yet because I have to check and make sure it’s the right name.

“I’m working on it, they’re very good at keeping it quiet this summer.”

It’s refreshing when a club edges towards a signing seemingly out of nowhere, like Arsenal did with Fabio Vieira.

By the time reports started emerging, the Gunners were already on the verge of signing him.

It’ll be interesting to see who Arsenal can get over the line in terms of reinforcements on the flanks.

One thing’s for sure – Edu is working extremely hard to bolster the Gunners ranks.
