‘Keep him’: Liverpool fans react as Harry Wilson scores spectacular goal against Lyon

Liverpool rounded off their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win over Lyon on Wednesday night. The result will hand Jurgen Klopp plenty of confidence going into Sunday’s game with Manchester City.

It hasn’t been a great pre-season for the Reds. Four winless games preceded this win. The presence of Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino back in the team certainly felt, however.

An error from Alisson gave Memphis Depay the chance to put the French side in front from the spot. Goals from Firmino, a Joachim Andersen own goal and a stunner from Harry Wilson ensured a positive outcome, however.

The performance of Wilson was a joy to behold.

After excelling on loan at Derby County in 2018/19, Klopp has handed him the chance to stake his claim for a place during pre-season.

His brilliant goal here might have just earned him a few more chances in Liverpool’s team, amid interest from other Premier League teams.

Wilson has a sensational left-foot and is something of a set-piece specialist. His energetic style is a useful asset, particularly in Klopp’s tried and tested system.
