‘Keep dreaming’, ‘Won’t downgrade’: Some fans react as their £40m player is linked with Arsenal
Arsenal are being linked with Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek – but some United fans on Twitter have responded by saying there is no chance they will sell him.
According to 90min, the Gunners have made contact with Man United about their Dutchman. Additionally, they’ve asked to be updated on his current position at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, the central midfielder had a really difficult debut season in England.
Aged 24, he’s been in and out of the Man United XI this campaign. His £40million transfer has become a bit of a laughing stock.
He’s a box-to-box midfielder that was previously a key figure in an exciting young Ajax side. However, like Ajax so often do, they sell their best players and rely on their fabulous academy to bring through more talented fresh blood.
Manchester United fans laugh off Arsenal rumours to Donny van de Beek
Van de Beek’s first year with Man United was way below par. However, he wouldn’t be the first player to succeed after a difficult debut season.
He’s yet to fully show the kind of creative flair he possesses. He is someone that has even drawn comparisons from some in the way the Frank Lampard used to arrive late to the box to score his goals.
Arsenal have sounded out interest in Van de Beek at this stage. But, it’s unclear on what Man United’s response will be.
Here are some Man United fans making their viewpoint clear on the midfielder’s future:
