'Keep an eye on Liverpool': Romano claims Reds in talks over exciting player who'd cost them 'crazy money'
Fabrizio Romano has told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that Liverpool have been in talks with Aurelien Tchouameni’s representatives.
The transfer insider says the Reds “really like” the Monaco ace, but must be willing to pay “crazy money” for his signature.
Liverpool boast an impressive midfield at the moment, but there’s certainly scope to bring in younger, first-team ready new recruits.
Jordan Henderson is 31 and James Milner is 36, so Jurgen Klopp may well be looking at potential successors.
And Tchouameni, one of the best young midfielders in world football, would certainly fit the bill for the Anfield outfit.
Described by Paul Pogba as an ‘extraordinary‘ talent, Tchouameni’s performances have brought him to the forefront of the top teams’ minds.
Romano, speaking on the latest Gazzetta dello FIVE episode, provided an update on Liverpool’s reported summer targets.
“For sure Liverpool are exploring big names for the summer,” said Romano.
“One of these big names is Aurelien Tchouameni, he’s a player they really like.
“I see Liverpool doing something in the midfield this summer.
“This summer, Tchouameni is a player they really appreciate but it depends on the price.
“At the moment he’s performing at top level and Monaco are prepared to ask for crazy money.
“There is interest, there are contacts between Tchouameni’s agents and Liverpool, but we’re not close to this move.
“Keep an eye on Liverpool because I’m sure they will explore this kind of opportunity.”
A recent report by Spanish outlet AS – via Sport Witness – claims Tchouameni has a £59million price tag.
But given his amazing talent at such a young age and potential to become a world-class star, he’d be worth every penny.
