Fabrizio Romano has suggested to the Last Word on Spurs that Tottenham Hotspur may have an advantage in the race to sign Denis Zakaria.

Advantage Spurs?

The 24-year-old has been tipped to be of interest to Tottenham in BILD.

Arsenal are also said to be in talks with the £17 million man by the German outlet.

But Tottenham may just have the upper hand in the transfer negotiations.

That is because Zakaria’s agents have a ‘strong’ relationship with Tottenham transfer chief Paratici, following past business between the pair.

“Fabio Paratici has a strong relationship with his agent. I would keep an eye on one of these two players [Zakaria and Tolisso]. It depends on money but also on if they find a solution for Moussa Sissoko,” Romano said.

Zakaria’s arrival at Tottenham could give them a very strong defensive foundation to build upon.

If they were to partner him with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg at the base of their midfield, then Spurs would have one of the most physical pairings in the Premier League.

Nuno does already have the attacking talent to hurt teams, so may want to strengthen his defensive ranks further this summer.

And given Sissoko’s rather indifferent performances for Spurs over the past year, if he was to be moved on, and Zakaria was brought it, it would have to be seen as an upgrade.
