‘Keen on this’: Fabrizio Romano claims ‘fantastic’ playmaker wants to join Liverpool in summer

Liverpool came close to landing Fabio Carvalho on transfer deadline day.

However, the move collapsed after the Reds ran out of time to complete the deal.

The plan was for Liverpool to sign Carvalho and loan him back to Fulham for the rest of the season.

Indeed, the player reportedly completed a medical in Liverpool ahead of the prospective move.

But as per Sky Sports, both Carvalho’s move to Anfield and his temporary switch back to Fulham needed to be completed before the deadline.

That was ultimately not possible, so the 19-year-old will see out the remaining six months of his contract at Craven Cottage.

However, it looks as though both Liverpool and Carvalho’s camp are already planning for a summer move.

On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Reds were confident about completing the deal in June.

This would help avoid a tribunal setting the fee, which would be the case if Carvalho joined another English club.

Romano also claimed that Carvalho and his agent are keen on this solution.

Carvalho has registered seven goals and three assists in 18 Championship appearances this season.

He also won the EFL Young Player of the Month last August and has won England caps at U16, U17 and U18 level.

Marco Silva claimed last week that Carvalho – a player he has called “fantastic” – would not leave Fulham in January.

“Fabio will be with us until the end of the season,” Silva told The Mirror last Friday.

“I would like to see him here for more years.”
