Aston Villa newcomer Morgan Rogers has been praised by Karl Robinson, who said the 21-year-old can do “things that some others can’t”.
The Villans signed Rogers on transfer deadline day for a reported fee of £8million which could rise to £15million with add-ons.
The Citizens will also reportedly receive a proportion of that money, having negotiated a 25 percent sell-on fee from any Boro profit.
Villa brought the attacking talent up to the Premier League following his great efforts at Boro, with 33 appearances, seven goals and nine assists this term.
Rogers’ efforts helped the Teesside outfit to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup earlier this season and has kept them in the playoff chase.
Morgan Rogers ‘adds quality’ to Aston Villa
Robinson, who manages Salford City, was speaking on Sky Sports News on transfer deadline day, and Rogers’ move to Villa was one of the topics he covered.
The 43-year-old recalled how difficult it was to play against Lincoln City – when he was manager of Oxford United – when both Rogers and Brennan Johnson were on loan there in 2021.
“I remember him going on loan to Lincoln and there was Johnson and one side and Morgan on the other,” said Robinson.
“And playing against them when they were only 18 or 19, the quality that they both possessed was incredible.

“To see the amount of money he has gone for, considering he only went for a small fee last window, is incredible.
“But he adds quality, he can go both ways, and has that bit of a swagger and has the ability to do things that some others can’t.”
As per BBC Sport, Boro rejected three bids from Villa before agreeing a fee for Rogers, who had joined from Manchester City just last July.
It’ll be exciting to see how Rogers fares at Villa for the rest of the season and in the coming years. He looks like a star in the making.
The Villans now have one of England’s best young talents in their ranks, one of three signings they made on transfer deadline day along with Lino Sousa and Joe Gauci.
Villa also signed Serbian defender from Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star earlier on in the January transfer window.
