Karen Carney has spotted something about Arsenal that 'will really push them on'
Arsenal icon Karen Carney has spoken about the importance of the Gunners picking up clean sheets.
She cited Aaron Ramsdale’s celebrations with his teammates following the win over Burnley as a sign of a “great mentality” that will help push the club on.
Arsenal made it two consecutive victories in the Premier League last Saturday, running out 1-0 winners at Turf Moor.
Martin Odegaard scored a superb free kick in the 30th minute, which proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The result was Arsenal’s second clean sheet in the league as well, with Ramsdale and his defence in superb form.
Carney, speaking on Optus Sport, enjoyed seeing the post-match celebrations within the Gunners back line.
“(Arsenal) just needed that one win and the momentum,” Carney said on Matchday Live Extra on Optus Sport.
“The confidence back in the side (for) the manager just to keep them believing and moving forward.
“A much better performance. I think what is more important was the clean sheet.
“You saw Ramsdale coming in and him celebrating at the end with Gabriel, that mentality will really push them on.
“They’ll always nick a goal, but it is about keeping that stability at the back, which I think has been their issue for a while.”
