Tottenham Hotspur must play out the remainder of 2019 without club captain Hugo Lloris, after the goalkeeper suffered a dislocated elbow during the 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the weekend.
The World Cup winner made a mistake on the Seagulls’ opening goal and took a nasty fall in the process.

It has since transpired that Lloris did not suffer a break, and he will not require surgery.
BBC Sport report the 32-year-old shouldn’t return to training before the end of 2019 – which almost certainly means a return to playing games in January at the least.
It means that striker Harry Kane will now wear the captain’s armband, and the onus is on the England skipper to lead from the front and get Tottenham out of their current rut – but what is his record when wearing the armband for the Lilywhites?

Kane wore the armband for the very first time in April 2015 in a Premier League match against Burnley.
Thanks to information from Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old has worn the captaincy on 22 occasions (at the start of games) for Spurs. He has been on the winning side 10 times, drawn five times and lost seven times.
That means Spurs have won a relatively underwhelming 45% of their games with Kane leading the side.
TBR’s view
It’s a mixed bag for Kane, who will be hoping to inspire his teammates to more victories during the time he will wear the armband.

Despite the fairly average record, one gets the feeling that he takes great pride in being a captain, and he could well flourish uninterrupted in the role.
It is something a lot of fans have been wanting to see, and it’s on Kane to deliver.
