Kalvin Phillips has joked with former Leeds United teammate Tom Pearce on Instagram that he has been taught well after the Wigan Athletic left-back scored a stunning free-kick in the EFL Trophy this week.
The Latics were beaten 3-1 at home by Port Vale.

It is a result that leaves the League One side third in their group with one game left.
There was one highlight for the club in the defeat however, with Pearce scoring a fantastic goal with 11 minutes remaining to get his side on the scoresheet.

And unsurprisingly, the 22-year-old felt compelled to take to social media to post a photo from just after he had struck the ball…
And amongst those to reply with Phillips, his former Whites teammate…

Phillips, of course, is not a stranger to taking a superb free-kick. He scored a brilliant goal at Blackburn late last season.
And he nearly repeated the trick this term when Leeds came close to shocking Liverpool on the opening day.
The Whites midfielder – who will be hoping to earn his second England cap later today – seemingly alluded to the fact they may have worked on set-piece taking together during their time at Elland Road.
Wigan fans will certainly be hoping that it is not the last time Pearce takes a free-kick this term. John Sheridan’s side are 10th in League One and only one point off the top six after winning their last two in the league.
