Kalvin Phillips reacts to Joe Gelhardt brace for Leeds' under-23s
Kalvin Phillips has labelled Joe Gelhardt a joke on Instagram after the Leeds United starlet scored two stunning goals for the under-23s on Sunday.
While some of Mark Jackson’s squad are knocking on Marcelo Bielsa’s door, Gelhardt now appears to be smashing it down.
The 19-year-old stole the show as Leeds beat Liverpool 4-0 this weekend. He scored twice, with both proving to be worthy of the goal of the season award.
His first came as he lobbed the Liverpool goalkeeper from around 45 yards. And he added a second with, somehow, a more outrageous hit, getting the ball swerving violently until it found its way into the top corner.
It is baffling to many that Gelhardt is yet to make his first-team debut at Elland Road. He has had to look on as several of his teammates have got their chance ahead of him.
But Gelhardt can hardly do anymore to prove himself to Bielsa.
And it certainly seems that he is catching the eye of Leeds’s key men.

Gelhardt took to Instagram to post videos of the two goals he scored in the victory. Unsurprisingly, a host of teammates and rival players lauded him in response.
And one of those to reach out to Gelhardt was Phillips. The midfielder summed up what a lot of supporters probably think about the teenager.
