Kalvin Phillips reacts to Ben White's England call-up
Kalvin Phillips has sent a classy message to former Leeds United teammate Ben White after the defender was included in the provisional England squad on Tuesday.
White has been rewarded after an outstanding first campaign in the Premier League with Brighton.
The uncapped 23-year-old has made Gareth Southgate’s 33-man squad ahead of Euro 2020.
The squad is set to be cut by seven names before the tournament starts. And given his lack of experience, it would be little surprise if many were tipping White to be one of those to miss out.
Nevertheless, it is a huge achievement. And one of those to reach out to him on social media was Phillips.
The Leeds star expressed his delight for the centre-back on his Instagram story…
Phillips will not be surprised to see White edge closer to his England debut.
The Brighton man proved to be an incredible signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s side when he joined on loan in 2019.
Of course, the campaign would end with automatic-promotion being secured.
And like Leeds, White has since gone on to show that he belongs at the highest level this past season.
And even if he does not quite make the 26 this time around, there is every reason to think that White’s time to shine at a major tournament will be just around the corner.
