Kalvin Phillips has taken to Twitter to comment on Leeds United’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town that has taken Marcelo Bielsa’s side back to the top of the Championship.
Phillips was suspended for the clash after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Middlesbrough last weekend.
It did appear that he would be missed as Leeds struggled during the first-half at the John Smith’s Stadium. Kiko Casilla had to produce an outstanding save to keep the home side at bay.
But Leeds stepped through the gears in the second-half. Gjanni Alioski scored a stunning volley from the edge of the box to put the Whites in front.
And the victory was sealed late on. Leeds launched a superb counter attack and that led to Jack Harrison putting in a delicious cross that Pablo Hernandez headed home at the back post.
Bielsa’s men looked much more like promotion contenders after the break. Casilla had to make another brilliant stop to prevent Danny Cowley’s men from equalising.
And Phillips admitted that it was not easy viewing from the stands. The midfielder confirmed on social media that he spent the game in the away end.
The 24-year-old expressed his delight at seeing his side secure the three points. But it is clear that he does not want that experience again.
Here is what Phillips posted…
I now know how you @LUFC fans feel watching from the stands! Nervous wreck! Well done boys. Love to see it 🤣👏🏽💛💙
