Kalvin Phillips was joined by a number of his Leeds United teammates in responding to Barry Douglas’s post on Instagram after the Whites’ win at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Douglas was perhaps a surprise inclusion in Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the game at Ewood Park.
While Stuart Dallas always looked to be a doubt for the game after limping off in Leeds’s previous game, many may have been expecting Gjanni Alioski to be promoted.
But with Helder Costa also missing out, Douglas did get the nod. And it is surely fair to say that he vindicated Bielsa’s decision with an outstanding performance.
Leeds won 3-1 against Tony Mowbray’s side. And Douglas was excellent at left-back, looking composed on the ball and providing another option further up the field.
It has not been the easiest time for Douglas since moving to Elland Road. He has struggled with form and fitness issues.
But he provided a fantastic reminder of his talent in the victory. And it appears that many of his teammates were delighted to see Douglas shine in the win.
The defender took to Instagram to comment on the result. And in response, several teammates heaped praise on the 30-year-old.
Phillips was joined by the likes of Luke Ayling, Illan Meslier, Jamie Shackleton and Ian Poveda in replying to Douglas with messages of encouragement.
