Leeds United hero Kalvin Phillips is being linked with a move to Manchester United this week. The Sun report that the Red Devils have twice sent coaches to watch Phillips in action recently, as they continue their new policy of signing talented young British players.
Leeds United fans will, of course, be hoping such a deal does not happen. Manchester United are the club’s fierce rivals and Phillips’ switch to Old Trafford would certainly sting more than a switch elsewhere.

But Phillips is clearly a fan of the current Manchester United team. Leeds took on the Premier League giants in Australia this summer. Manchester United ran out comfortable 4-0 winners that day in Perth but left Phillips impressed at what he had seen.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about the game last month, the Leeds maestro made it clear he admired plenty about his rivals.
“When we played Manchester United in pre-season, they had a lot of good players.
“Pogba didn’t look his best but you noticed the difference between Premier League and Championship level.
“He’s probably one of the best midfielders in the world. That was one of my toughest tests so far.”

If Phillips leaves Leeds anytime soon, fans will be hoping it is for anywhere but Manchester.
However, despite all the talk of his homegrown status and the rivalry between the two sides, resisting a move to Old Trafford would be very difficult for the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’.
Leeds will just have to hope they win promotion this season, at which point Phillips will have no reason to leave West Yorkshire for Premier League football.
