Kalvin Phillips has admitted he was physically struggling on his return to the Leeds United team on Monday night against West Ham.
Phillips, 25, jokingly confessed that it was a shock to the system with all the running he had to do in the early stages of last night’s defeat.
Leeds were beaten 2-0 away to West Ham in the Premier League fixture, as once again they suffered more misery on a trip to London.
The Whites have hit a tricky patch of four defeats in their last five league matches, but are still clear of the relegation scrap and have had a strong return to the top flight.
Phillips played 90 minutes yesterday on his return from a four-game injury layout with a calf problem.
“First 25 minutes, I was blowing, to be honest, but it’s the way that we play. We are a very dynamic team and, we run a lot,” Phillips told LUTV.

TBR’s View:
It must be hard for any Leeds player to get back to full fitness after some time on the sidelines, but Phillips played the full game on his return and it highlights how important he is.
The all-action deep-lying midfielder gets through so much work on the pitch off the ball, while in possession he’s a classy operator with his range of passing.
His presence back in the team felt reassuring, but unfortunately Leeds lost the game after conceding two quick-fire goals during the first half.
