Kai Havertz has played with some absolutely rapid players during his career.
The German has shared the pitch with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in recent years at Chelsea, but now, he’s at Arsenal and he’s working with some of the quickest players in the league at the Emirates too.
Indeed, the likes of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba are absolutely rapid, but according to Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli is the fastest player he’s ever played alongside.
Speaking to Goal on TikTok, Havertz was asked to build his ‘ultimate footballer’ based on a number of attributes, and when he had to pick a player for speed, he named Gabriel Martinelli as the fastest player he’s played with.

The German spoke about the £6m Arsenal man.
“Left foot?” Havertz was asked.
“Odegaard,” Havertz replied
“Right foot?” Havertz was asked.
“Gabi Jesus,” Havertz said.
“Speed?” Havertz was then asked.
“Martinelli,” Havertz concluded.
Rapid
It’s not a shock to hear Martinelli saying this.
The winger is absolutely rapid. He has an incredible ability to not only accelerate off the ball to get in behind defences, he’s also able to outrun almost any full-back when he’s dribbling on the ball too.
The winger is so sharp, and while Havertz has played with some incredibly quick players throughout his career so far, Martinelly may well be the quickest.
Arsenal know how to use Martinelli’s pace to great effect, and it’s certainly one of the most dangerous weapons in the Gunners’ armoury at the moment.
The Brazilian is, of course, so much more than just a pace merchant, but the fact that he has this lightning speed certainly helps him in an attacking sense.
