Celtic have reportedly made an approach to sign Juventus defender Mattia De Sciglio but it is believed the Italian star has decided to reject a move to Glasgow – and Juve fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.
De Sciglio, 27, has been in and out of Juventus side since joining the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2017 – with a fee believed to be in the region of £11million (ESPN). He has managed just 62 outings in three seasons.
With Juan Cuadrado and Danilo as options on the right side of the defence, while Douglas Costa can also do a job as a right wing-back – De Sciglio is way down the pecking order. On the left, Alex Sandro is first choice.
A move for De Sciglio – a three-time Serie A winner – is likely then. Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed Celtic have nade an approach over the last 24 hours for the 39-time Italy international.
However, the report claims De Sciglio has decided to reject a move to Glasgow despite Celtic qualifying for the Europa League with a win over Sarajevo in the Europa League play-off round. It is believed he is not convinced by the Scottish side.
Juventus supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Celtic had made a move to sign De Sciglio. Many are desperate to see the back of the defender, urging Celtic to “take him”.
