Juventus submit £38m bid to sign Arne Slot’s ‘top’ target at Liverpool this summer

Italian giants Juventus could now be set to frustrate Liverpool and Arne Slot after tabling a sizable bid for one of the club’s top targets.

Richard Hughes has recently been providing reason for Liverpool fans to believe that the club will still make a late offensive on the transfer front in August.

Liverpool are still yet to make a significant signing this summer since Slot arrived.

The Dutchman has taken time to assess his squad, giving every player the chance to prove that they have the ability to contribute.

Slot handed another Liverpool opportunity to Sepp van den Berg for example, who could still depart Anfield if the right offer arrives.

But having got to know his squad, it’s been reported that Slot would like to add a new centre-back and an additional midfielder this summer.

Liverpool lost a ton of experience when Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara departed in those roles over the summer, and would seem well advised to add.

That being said, Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners is said to be Liverpool’s ‘top’ target this summer.

Slot has reportedly identified the Dutchman as someone who can improve this midfield, but could now be frustrated by Juventus.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who shared his update on X, the Italian side have now submitted an official bid of €45m (£38m) for Koopmeiners.

The journalist shared that the player already agreed personal terms with Juventus as long ago as May, with the clubs just needing to decide a fee.

Romano said: “Juventus submit first official bid to Atalanta to sign top target Teun Koopmeiners.

“Understand there’s €45m proposal on the table for Dutch midfielder.

“Koopmeiners agreed personal terms with Juventus in May, up to the clubs as Atalanta always asked big fee.”

A frustrating update from a Liverpool point of view given that many of the club’s supporters will feel as if they should be tabling a competing bid.

Koopmeiners has a similar positional profile to Alexis Mac Allister and could offer Slot some exciting options next season were Liverpool to steal ahead of Juventus.

However, it currently looks as if the Turin side are most determined to sign the 26-year-old.
