Leeds United face competition for the signing of Rodrigo De Paul as Juventus have reportedly entered the race.

According to Udine-based publication Messaggero Veneto, Juventus are now interested in the Udinese star. The report also states that AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are keen on the Argentine midfielder, as well as Liverpool.

Il Milanista reported last month that Leeds were in the lead for De Paul’s signature, with the Reds shortly behind them. The Sun also claimed in January that the Serie A side values the 27-year-old playmaker at £40m.

Juventus had a poor year under Andrea Pirlo, who was duly sacked last week. The Old Lady finished fourth in the Serie A standings; however, the European powerhouses won the Coppa Italia.

Leeds could struggle to sign De Paul in the summer. Speaking on the Phil Hay Show, Director of Football Victor Orta publicly admitted that it will be tough for the Yorkshire side to complete a deal for the Serie A midfielder.

With Pablo Hernandez leaving Leeds, the club need an attacking midfielder to bolster the squad ahead of next season.

And whilst De Paul would be an excellent addition, the Whites could find themselves out of the race due to the reputation of the club’s competing for the Argentine.

Yet even with the level of global support the team have and the aspirations the manager and boardroom have, De Paul could just be out of reach for the Yorkshire side.

Marcelo Bielsa will no doubt be an attractive proposition for De Paul, but that alone might not be enough to lure one of Italy’s top players to Leeds this summer.
