Juventus are apparently willing to let Douglas Costa go and Liverpool should use that stance to finally make their move for the Brazilian.
According to a report from the Sun this weekend, Juventus are keen on signing Gabriel Jesus from Man City. In order to try and push a deal through, they are apparently ready to use Douglas Costa as a makeweight in any deal.
Costa has been a fine player for Juve in recent times. However, his form has dipped over the last 12 months, with both goals and assists drying up somewhat. Indeed, he’s yet to score in Serie A this term, although he has set three up for his teammates.
This, though, is in stark contrast to the player we saw in the 2017/18 season. During that time, Costa assisted 12 times in Serie A and scored four himself. (Transfermarkt)

Douglas Costa is a fine option to consider if Mane or Salah leave
As with most of the top players in world football, with good performances comes interest from other clubs.
This is the case with Liverpool at the moment, who could struggle to keep hold of Sadio Mane. Indeed, Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on bringing the forward to La Liga. (Mirror)
If Liverpool were to lose Mane, they could do far worse than sign Costa. This is a player who has experience at the very highest levels. You don’t play for the likes of Bayern and Juventus without being a world-class talent.
Furthermore, the Reds need a squad. Even if Mane is to stay, adding someone like Costa would be a wise move.
The likes of Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri will, more than likely, move on this summer. That opens up space within the squad in attacking areas at Anfield.
Douglas Costa could fill the void with ease. At 29, he’s got a few years left at his best you would assume. It could, then, be the prime time for Liverpool to finally land a player they’ve courted for years.
