Juventus fans react as West Ham and Newcastle reportedly want Daniele Rugani

West Ham United and Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani this summer with the Italian some way down the pecking order under Andrea Pirlo – and Juve supporters have responded on Twitter.

Rugani, 26, has fallen down the pecking order at Juventus following the signings last summer of Merih Demiral and Matthijs de Ligt. Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci also remain ahead of seven-time Italy international Rugani in the rankings.

That has seen Juve seemingly soften on Rugani’s future, with the Italian being linked to the Premier League numerous times over the past 12 months. Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims both West Ham and Everton are ‘strongly’ interested.

TuttoJuve claimed earlier this summer that defender Rugani is valued at £23million. Such a fee is easily affordable for both Everton and West Ham – with the latter already tabling offers worth as much as £30million for James Tarkowski (BBC).

Everton, meanwhile, need a centre-back. Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are Carlo Ancelotti’s only options at the heart of the Toffees defence. Signing Rugani should be considered, then, but Everton have already spent big this summer.

Juventus supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news, though, that Everton and West Ham are keen on landing Rugani before October 5’s deadline in a fortnight – and many are keen to see the back of him.
