Justin Kluivert says Liverpool have a player who’s better at heading than Diogo Jota

Liverpool have a number of players who are absolutely fantastic in the air.

Diogo Jota, despite his size, has regularly been named as one of the best headers of a ball in the Premier League, while the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Darwin Nunez are giants who cause all sorts of problems from set plays.

However, speaking to FuboTV, Justin Kluivert has named another Liverpool player as the best in the Premier League at heading.

Virgil Van Dijk is the best in the Premier League at heading

Kluivert spoke about his Netherlands teammate when tasked with building the perfect Premier League player made up of a number of attributes.

“Build your perfect Premier League footballer, we’ll start with heading,” Kluivert was asked.

“Virgil van Dijk,” Kluivert said.

Virgil van Dijk is so good in the air

We’re not going to argue with Kluivert’s verdict here.

Kluivert reckons that Van Dijk is the best in the air in the Premier League, and he may not be wrong.

At both ends, Van Dijk is almost unmatchable in an aerial sense.

Every cross that comes into the Liverpool box is gobbled up by the Dutchman, while he also has an incredible ability to be aggressive and effective from attacking set-pieces.

How many times have we seen Van Dijk turn up with big goals in big moments with his head? He did it just last month in the Carabao Cup final, and that’s just one of the many times Van Dijk has come up trumps in these situations in the big moments.

Of course, the likes of Jota and perhaps Ivan Toney are more consistently accurate with their headed finishes due to the fact they’re strikers, but when you combine, power, accuracy, strength and aerial reach, Van Dijk has to be considered the best in the Premier League in this arena.
