Justin Cochrane is really pushing Daniel Levy to sign £68m player for Tottenham

Thomas Frank has had an interesting first summer transfer window as Tottenham manager.

Plenty of cash has been splashed at Spurs this summer. Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have arrived permanently after loan spells last season, while Mohammed Kudus is a big-money arrival.

Joao Palhinha has also arrived on loan from Bayern Munich to strengthen the midfield.

Tottenham still want another creative attacking option too. Spurs failed to sign Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this summer after a complicated pursuit, while James Maddison’s injury has further complicated things.

Tottenham are now in for Eberechi Eze, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Market Madness, Justin Cochrane is one key figure driving this deal.

Justin Cochrane driving Eberechi Eze move

According to Jacobs, Justin Cochrane is advocating a move for Eberechi Eze behind the scenes at Tottenham.

The journalist says that Eze knows Cochrane well, and the coach is driving this move alongside Thomas Frank.

Eze has been valued at £68m recently, so this would be an expensive deal to say the least.

“The last thing I can exclusively reveal relates to Justin Cochrane, who is somebody very well known to Eberechi Eze, and also a confidant of Thomas Frank being an assistant coach at Tottenham. He and Frank are the two that are driving this move, and Daniel Levy is prepared to back Thomas Frank with budget,” Jacobs said.

So keep an eye on Eze to Spurs. He’s open to Arsenal, he’s open to Spurs, but it’s Tottenham that are moving, and as a result, maybe, just maybe, they’ve moved ahead of Arsenal in the race for Eberechi Eze, because they want to do a deal right now.”

How does Justin Cochrane know Eberechi Eze?

As Jacobs says, Cochrane is a coach that Eze knows well.

Of course, Cochrane has spent his career working for clubs like Brentford, Tottenham and Manchester United, so there’s no real strong tie with Eze there.

So, how does Cochrane know Eze?

Earlier this year, the Spurs coach took up a role in Thomas Tuchel’s England set-up, and, in turn, that led to Eze and Cochrane working together.

Clearly, Cochrane has been impressed by what he has seen from Eze in the England camps as of late, and that could well hold the key to this move to Tottenham.
