‘Just give us the league’: Some Arsenal fans react as Edu reportedly targets £21m La Liga ace

A number of Arsenal fans have welcomed speculation linking the Gunners to Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, Edu and Mikel Arteta could well look to bolster their ranks.

And according to Spanish outlet Marca, Arsenal have set their sights on the United States international.

The Gunners are likely to have competition from other big teams, however.

Marca also claims Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Dest.

The 21-year-old joined Barca from Ajax in 2020 for a reported £18.9m.

He has a 400m euro (£337m) release clause, but Marca claims bidding could start at around £21m.

Since making his debut a year ago, Dest has found it hard to cement a starting XI spot.

Ronald Koeman, who signed the United States international, struggled to get the best out of him.

And with Xavi now at the helm, he could well want to move players on and bring his own in.

Arsenal currently have the impressive Takehiro Tomiyasu as first-choice at right-back.

However, there’s certainly scope for the Gunners to bring strength in depth to the position.
