Just four appearances this season suggest Leeds United move would have been too soon for Harry Cochrane

A year ago today and Leeds United were being linked with a potential move for Scottish talent Harry Cochrane.

The Whites, along with Brighton and Hove Albion are said to be keen on the player. In fact, the Scottish Sun reported that Leeds had been interested for some time, prior to him making his Hearts breakthrough at just 16-years-old.

However, Leeds’ hopes of signing him in the summer were effectively terminated in April. Cochrane signed a new deal at the Edinburgh club. The teenager agreed on a deal that keeps him at Tynecastle until 2021.

So should Leeds remain interested?

Undoubtedly he should still be on the radar of the West Yorkshire side. However, he has not been as influential as he might have hoped this season.

Cochrane has played just four times for Craig Levein’s side this season. Compared to the 25 games he played for the club last season and it appears he has gone slightly backwards. The arrivals of Olly Lee and Sean Clare in the summer have pushed him down the pecking order and Leeds will no doubt be wondering if the 17-year-old can push back into the starting XI in the Scottish capital.

For now, it does not seem Leeds are missing out. However, they would be right to keep a keen eye on his development going forward.
