Jurrien Timber has had a frustrating season at Arsenal.
The Dutchman has had to spend most of this campaign on the sidelines with an ACL injury, and it has been a very difficult year for the defender.
However, while Timber’s spell on the sidelines has been frustrating, there are some positives to take here.
Indeed, Timber has had a front-row seat to watch one of the best teams in the world every week this season, and he’s now had plenty of opportunities to learn about his teammates.
While Timber will have learned just how good some of his teammates are this season, he knew just how talented one Arsenal player was years ago.

Jurrien Timber knew how good Bukayo Saka was years ago
Speaking to Pro Direct Soccer, Timber discussed playing against Saka at the U17 Euros a number of years ago, and he says he really impressed him even at a young age.
“It was amazing, we had a good squad. I played against Bukayo, I tell him often, in the semi-finals, I was right wing-back and he was left wing-back. He was good though, he was quick, yeah, yeah, but we won on penalties. We won the Euros, we had an amazing team,” Timber said.
Bukayo Saka is a star
It’s not at all surprising to hear this.
Even as a teenager, Saka was one of Arsenal’s very best players, and we can’t even begin to imagine how good he was when he was playing at youth level.
Saka has been a star pretty much since the day he stepped into the professional game, and it’s not shocking at all to hear that Timber noted just how good Saka was as a youngster.
A lot has changed since then, Saka is now a right winger rather than a left wing-back, but he’s certainly just as scary a player.
