One of Liverpool’s biggest weaknesses in recent years has been the lack of options and depth, often highlighted by injuries to players like Daniel Sturridge, and Jurgen Klopp set to right that wrong this summer.
With the additions of the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Fabinho and Naby Keita, he added options to previous shallow departments.
Practically the only area where Liverpool still looked exposed come August was in the centre forward position, where, after a strong pre-season, Jurgen Klopp opted to put his faith in Daniel Sturridge.

Previously one of the first names on the team sheet, injuries and struggles for form had seen him loaned out to West Brom in January with only 18 months left on his contract.
Few expected him to even be at the club come September 2018, let alone starting and scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and then scoring a crucial late equaliser against Chelsea in the Premier League days after another fine finish against his former club.
How long his fitness will hold up to the challenge of playing regularly remains to be seen, but Sturridge is proving Klopp right in trusting him, rather than looking to the market or giving more opportunities to Dominic Solanke or Divock Origi.
