Liverpool fans are used to seeing one of Mo Salah or Sadio Mane get taken off in games, but the Reds supporters won’t be too happy at the apparent reason for Salah’s departure today.

Salah was taken off in the 64th minute for Diogo Jota after he had done the business from the penalty spot to add to his goal tally for the season. But on the whole, it wasn’t the best day Salah’s ever had as he snatched at a few chances and didn’t quite look himself.

And speaking after the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Salah may have picked up an injury, hence his substitution.

“Something was not right. I think there was a situation where his foot got stretched. We’ll have to see,” Klopp said of the Egyptian forward to the BBC.

Salah being injured will be a huge blow for the Reds. They are in the midst of hunting down Manchester City at the top of the table and need Salah firing on all cylinders.

Reds fans, then, will be simply hoping this was nothing more than precautionary and that their star man will be back and raring to go in the coming week.

He didn’t have his best game but cometh the hour, cometh the man, as Salah kept his cool to smash a penalty in and put the game beyond Brighton.

The injury news from Klopp is a potential worry, however. Salah remains a key figure for Liverpool and even though they have signed Luis Diaz, they won’t catch City without their main talisman involved.
