Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain caught the eye in Liverpool’s 4-1 thumping of Genk with two goals including a stunning strike from outside the box.
The £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) star is being eased back into contention and Jurgen Klopp feels he could still have performed better on the whole, despite his goals.
As per Daily Mail, he said: “It was absolutely a great moment for him, but I would say with Ox his performance was exactly the same as the performance of the team – the goals were great but all the rest could have been better.
“That’s how it is, but it’s no problem. The goal was sensational and very important for us. Wonderful. On Sunday, Adam (Lallana) scored the goal, and now Ox has scored two goals. It’s really nice. Absolutely great, a great story.”
TBR’s View – Chamberlain offers Liverpool more midfield creativity
There’s long been a suspicion that Liverpool need more flair from their central midfielders and Chamberlain offers that, as well as pace and discipline.
But Klopp clearly wants more from Chamberlain before he becomes a fixture in his plans again, even if the stunning second goal was a clear reminder of the goal threat he offers.
