Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on an ‘unbelievable’ Leicester City star ahead of tomorrow’s game – and it’s not Jamie Vardy or James Maddison.
The German boss addressed the media ahead of tomorrow’s clash and singled out Harvey Barnes for a special mention.
Liverpool must try and stop the left-sided winger tomorrow, with the Reds desperate to get back to winning ways at the King Power Stadium.
Barnes has scored 11 goals for the Foxes this season and his form has earned him recognition in the England squad by Gareth Southgate.
A defensive crisis has rocked Liverpool this season and Klopp has implied that his players will need to keep a close eye on the Leicester man tomorrow.
He told the club’s official website: “Brendan and the players are smart enough to use last season – as long as they don’t lose players and can add on – they did good business.
“Albrighton, Vardy, Barnes – Barnes really is an unbelievable player.”
TBR View: Leicester will provide tough test – could Liverpool get a closer look at summer signing?
Liverpool will go above the Foxes tomorrow if they can claim three points from the contest – and that will be Klopp’s sole focus.
He could, however, be keen to take a closer look himself at the quality of Barnes following his kind words.
The £60,000-a-week flyer is cleary fancied by Klopp and he might fancy trying to take him to Anfield during the summer.
Liverpool have struggled in the absence of Sadio Mane when he’s not played this season and that will give Klopp some food for thought.
Barnes looks destined to play for one of England’s top clubs. Klopp’s comment perhaps suggests he is keen for Michael Edwards to work his magic this summer.
